The Block Island Rymd Duva…

… is translated in Swedish, as “Space Pigeon”.  Actually, that’s how my Swedish mother has chosen to translate it, and the name stuck. Each Duva is a hand-cut, rough, but friendly character that brings a smile and good luck to your gardens, sheds or where ever the hell you want to put one. No two are alike. Ranging from 12 inches tall to the largest made to date—a whooping 8 foot bird— each creation is made from foraged BLOCK ISLAND beach detritus.  Some are painted onto existing found art. Some are formed into a cut paper photomontages on vintage record album sleeves, or old books. My Rymd Duvas bring me an inexplicable joy, and it’s my hope they’ll do the same of you.

A Sphinx-like cypher of mystical messages. A self-assured ambassador of mystery and imagination. Talisman of intention, whimsy and beauty. Pictured here are two, 1 of a kind, hand carved Danish Modern sculpture prototypes.
